Description

Cream cheese wontons are a crispy, creamy appetizer combining rich cream cheese and crunchy wonton wrappers, perfect for parties or family meals. Easy to make and highly customizable, these wontons are a crowd favorite!

  • 2 tbsp green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • 1 package wonton wrappers (about 30-40)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for sealing)

 

  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  • Prepare the filling: In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, green onions, garlic, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce (optional). Stir until smooth and well combined.

  • Assemble the wontons: Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon about 1-2 teaspoons of the cream cheese mixture in the center. Moisten the edges with beaten egg, then fold the wrapper into a triangle or pouch shape, pressing the edges tightly to seal.

  • Heat the oil: In a deep fryer or large pot, heat about 2-3 inches of vegetable oil over medium-high heat, ensuring it’s around 350°F/175°C but not smoking.

  • Fry the wontons: Fry the wontons in batches for 2-3 minutes, turning occasionally until golden and crispy.

 

  • Drain and serve: Remove the wontons with a slotted spoon and drain excess oil on a plate lined with paper towels. Serve immediately with dipping sauce.

  • Storage: Store leftover wontons in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheating: Reheat in an oven or air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes to maintain crispiness. Avoid microwaving to prevent sogginess.
