Quick Homemade Strawberry Jam

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 1 cup 1x

Description

A quick and easy homemade strawberry jam recipe made without pectin! This simple jam captures the fresh flavor of strawberries and is perfect for toast, baking, or desserts. Ready in just 30 minutes!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Strawberries

    • Wash, hull, and chop the strawberries into small pieces. For a smoother jam, mash slightly with a fork or potato masher.
  • Cook the Jam

    • In a medium saucepan, combine chopped strawberries, sugar, lemon juice, and lemon zest.
    • Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until sugar dissolves and the mixture starts to bubble.
  • Simmer and Thicken

    • Reduce heat to low and let simmer, stirring occasionally, for about 15-20 minutes.
    • To test thickness, place a small amount on a cold plate; if it gels slightly and holds shape, it’s ready.

  • Cool and Store

    • Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes.
    • Transfer to a clean jar or airtight container.
    • Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Notes

  • Reduced Sugar: Substitute honey or maple syrup.
  • Berry Mix: Combine strawberries with raspberries or blueberries.
  • Spiced Jam: Add a pinch of cinnamon or vanilla extract.

  • Chia Seed Jam: Stir in 1 tablespoon of chia seeds for extra texture.
