Ingredients

Scale

For the Meatballs:

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)

For the Tzatziki Sauce:

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cucumber, grated and drained
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

Making the Meatballs:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, feta cheese, egg, garlic, onion, parsley, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined but do not overwork the meat.
  3. Using a tablespoon or small scoop, form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until they are golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature of 165°F/74°C).

Making the Tzatziki Sauce:

  1. Grate the cucumber and squeeze out excess liquid using a clean kitchen towel or paper towel.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, dill, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
  3. Let the tzatziki sauce sit in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve with warm pita bread and a side of Greek salad.
  • Pair with rice, quinoa, or roasted vegetables for a balanced meal.
  • Use as a filling for a gyro-style wrap with lettuce, tomatoes, and onions.

Notes

  • Spicy Option: Add red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper for a bit of heat.
  • Dairy-Free: Omit the feta cheese and use a dairy-free yogurt for the tzatziki.
  • Gluten-Free: Use gluten-free breadcrumbs or almond flour instead of regular breadcrumbs.
