Ingredients

  • 1 small head of green cabbage, chopped
  • 12 oz smoked sausage (kielbasa or andouille), sliced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare Ingredients – Chop cabbage, slice sausage, dice onion, and mince garlic.
  • Cook the Sausage – Heat 1 tbsp oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown sausage for about 5 minutes, then remove and set aside.
  • Sauté Onion & Garlic – Add another tbsp of oil/butter. Cook onion until soft (about 3 minutes), then stir in garlic for 30 seconds.
  • Add Cabbage – Toss in cabbage, stirring occasionally. Cook for 10-15 minutes until softened and slightly caramelized.
  • Season the Dish – Sprinkle in paprika, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.
  • Combine & Finish – Return sausage to the skillet and mix. Cook for another 2-3 minutes. Add apple cider vinegar if using.
  • Serve & Enjoy – Serve hot as a main dish or side.
