  • 1 small onion (sliced)
  • 1 bell pepper (sliced, any color)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon coarsely ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper (optional, for extra spice)
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce (optional, for added sweetness)
  • Green onions (chopped, for garnish)
  • Cooked rice (for serving)

Instructions

Step 1: Marinate the Chicken

  • In a bowl, combine chicken with soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil.
  • Let marinate for at least 15 minutes.

Step 2: Cook the Chicken

  • Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Add marinated chicken and stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Remove from pan and set aside.

Step 3: Stir-Fry the Vegetables

  • Add the remaining 1 tablespoon vegetable oil to the pan.
  • Sauté onions and bell peppers for 2 minutes.
  • Stir in garlic and ginger, cooking for another 30 seconds.

Step 4: Make the Sauce

  • In a small bowl, mix chicken broth, black pepper, white pepper (if using), rice vinegar, sugar, and hoisin sauce.
  • Pour into the pan with vegetables and stir well.
  • Return chicken to the pan, tossing everything together.
  • Cook for another 1-2 minutes until sauce thickens.

    Step 5: Serve

    • Garnish with chopped green onions.
    • Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
