- 1 bell pepper (sliced, any color)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger (minced)
- 1 tablespoon coarsely ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon white pepper (optional, for extra spice)
- 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce (optional, for added sweetness)
- Green onions (chopped, for garnish)
- Cooked rice (for serving)
Instructions
Step 1: Marinate the Chicken
- In a bowl, combine chicken with soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil.
- Let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
Step 2: Cook the Chicken
- Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add marinated chicken and stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove from pan and set aside.
Step 3: Stir-Fry the Vegetables
- Add the remaining 1 tablespoon vegetable oil to the pan.
- Sauté onions and bell peppers for 2 minutes.
- Stir in garlic and ginger, cooking for another 30 seconds.
Step 4: Make the Sauce
- In a small bowl, mix chicken broth, black pepper, white pepper (if using), rice vinegar, sugar, and hoisin sauce.
- Pour into the pan with vegetables and stir well.
- Return chicken to the pan, tossing everything together.
- Cook for another 1-2 minutes until sauce thickens.
Step 5: Serve
- Garnish with chopped green onions.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
