- 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Prepare the Salisbury Steak Patties:
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, black pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder.
- Mix until just combined, then form into 4-6 oval-shaped patties.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 3-4 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Make the Gravy:
- In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onions and mushrooms, cooking until softened (5-7 minutes).
- Sprinkle flour over the vegetables, stirring for 1-2 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer.
- Combine and Simmer:
- Return Salisbury steak patties to the skillet, nestling them into the gravy.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes until cooked through and gravy thickens.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
