- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tbsp water
For the Glaze (Optional):
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp milk
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

Prepare the Filling
- In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon zest until smooth. Set aside.

Prepare the Puff Pastry
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry and cut into four equal squares.

Assemble the Danish
- Place a spoonful of cream cheese filling in the center of each square.
- Top with sliced strawberries and a drizzle of strawberry jam (if using).
- Fold the corners slightly inward or twist the edges to form a border.

Apply Egg Wash
- Beat the egg with water, then brush the edges of the pastry with the egg wash for a golden finish.

- Bake for 15–18 minutes or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed.

- While cooling slightly, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to create a glaze.
- Drizzle over warm Danish before serving.
