  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Juice of 1 lime

For the Slaw:

  • 2 cups shredded cabbage (red or green)
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1/2 tsp honey
  • 1/4 tsp salt

For the Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp hot sauce (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Additional Toppings:

  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1/2 cup diced avocado
  • 1/2 cup crumbled cotija or feta cheese
  • Sliced jalapeños (optional)
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Slaw

  1. In a large bowl, combine shredded cabbage and chopped cilantro.
  2. In a separate small bowl, mix mayonnaise, lime juice, honey, and salt.
  3. Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and toss to coat evenly. Set aside.

Step 2: Cook the Shrimp

  1. In a medium bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp in a single layer.
  3. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until shrimp turns pink and opaque.
  4. Squeeze fresh lime juice over the shrimp and remove from heat.

Step 3: Make the Sauce

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together sour cream, mayonnaise, lime juice, hot sauce (if using), and garlic powder.
  2. Adjust seasoning to taste and set aside.

Step 4: Assemble the Tacos

  1. Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave.
  2. Add a layer of slaw, followed by shrimp.
  3. Drizzle with sauce and top with avocado, cotija cheese, and jalapeños if desired.
  4. Serve with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

  • Spicier Tacos – Add cayenne pepper to the shrimp seasoning or extra hot sauce to the sauce.
  • Grilled Shrimp – Instead of pan-frying, grill the shrimp for a smoky flavor.
  • Creamy Slaw Alternative – Swap mayonnaise for Greek yogurt for a tangier, lighter version.
  • Different Toppings – Try pickled onions, mango salsa, or roasted corn.
