  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A quick and flavorful stir-fry featuring tender beef and crunchy cabbage in a savory, umami-packed sauce. Perfect for a weeknight meal, ready in under 30 minutes, and easily customizable.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef (flank steak, sirloin, or ribeye), thinly sliced
  • 3 cups cabbage, shredded
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional, for added sweetness)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup water or beef broth
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef: In a bowl, mix sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and black pepper. Let marinate for at least 10 minutes.
  2. Cook the Beef: Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear beef for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Stir-Fry the Vegetables: In the same pan, add remaining oil. Sauté onions for 2 minutes. Add garlic and ginger, cooking for 30 seconds. Stir in cabbage and cook for 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp.
  4. Combine and Finish: Return beef to the pan. Add oyster sauce, hoisin sauce (if using), sesame oil, and water/broth. Stir and cook for 2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Serve: Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

  • For a spicier dish, increase red pepper flakes or add Sriracha.
  • For a low-carb option, serve over cauliflower rice.
  • Can be customized with additional vegetables like bell peppers, carrots, or mushrooms.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a pan for best texture.
