Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb beef (flank steak, sirloin, or ribeye), thinly sliced
- 3 cups cabbage, shredded
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional, for added sweetness)
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup water or beef broth
- 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Beef: In a bowl, mix sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and black pepper. Let marinate for at least 10 minutes.
- Cook the Beef: Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear beef for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Stir-Fry the Vegetables: In the same pan, add remaining oil. Sauté onions for 2 minutes. Add garlic and ginger, cooking for 30 seconds. Stir in cabbage and cook for 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp.
- Combine and Finish: Return beef to the pan. Add oyster sauce, hoisin sauce (if using), sesame oil, and water/broth. Stir and cook for 2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Serve: Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
Notes
- For a spicier dish, increase red pepper flakes or add Sriracha.
- For a low-carb option, serve over cauliflower rice.
- Can be customized with additional vegetables like bell peppers, carrots, or mushrooms.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a pan for best texture.
