- 1 lb beef (flank steak, sirloin, or ribeye), thinly sliced
- ½ head green cabbage, shredded
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece ginger, minced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional)
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- 1 tsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Beef
- In a bowl, toss sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and black pepper. Marinate for 10–15 minutes.
Step 2: Cook the Beef
- Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Stir-fry beef for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
Step 3: Stir-Fry the Vegetables
- In the same pan, add remaining vegetable oil.
- Sauté onion, garlic, and ginger for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add cabbage and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until softened.
Step 4: Combine Everything
- Return beef to the pan.
- Stir in oyster sauce, hoisin sauce (if using), rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Cook for another 2 minutes.
- Drizzle with sesame oil and mix well.
Step 5: Serve and Garnish
- Remove from heat, garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
- Serve hot over steamed rice, noodles, or on its own.
