Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef (flank steak, sirloin, or ribeye), thinly sliced
  • ½ head green cabbage, shredded
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece ginger, minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional)
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Beef

  • In a bowl, toss sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and black pepper. Marinate for 10–15 minutes.

Step 2: Cook the Beef

  • Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  • Stir-fry beef for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.

Step 3: Stir-Fry the Vegetables

  • In the same pan, add remaining vegetable oil.
  • Sauté onion, garlic, and ginger for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Add cabbage and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until softened.

Step 4: Combine Everything

  • Return beef to the pan.
  • Stir in oyster sauce, hoisin sauce (if using), rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Cook for another 2 minutes.
  • Drizzle with sesame oil and mix well.

Step 5: Serve and Garnish

  • Remove from heat, garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
  • Serve hot over steamed rice, noodles, or on its own.

Notes

  • Spicy Kick: Add Sriracha or chili paste for extra heat.
  • Low-Carb Option: Use coconut aminos instead of soy sauce and serve over cauliflower rice.
  • Alternative Proteins: Swap beef for chicken, pork, or tofu.
  • Extra Veggies: Add bell peppers, carrots, or mushrooms for variety.
  • Thicker Sauce: Mix 1 tsp cornstarch with water and stir in at the end.
