Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz pasta (fettuccine, penne, or spaghetti)
  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or half-and-half (optional, for a creamier sauce)
  • Fresh parsley or green onions for garnish
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

. Cook the Pasta

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  • Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
  • Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.

2. Prepare the Steak

  • Pat the flank steak dry and slice thinly against the grain.
  • Season with salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika.
  • Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Sear the steak for 2-3 minutes per side until browned and cooked to your preferred doneness.
  • Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.

3. Sauté the Vegetables

  • In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tbsp olive oil.
  • Sauté onions and bell peppers for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  • Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes; cook for 30 seconds.

4. Create the Sauce

  • Pour in beef broth, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • If using cornstarch, mix it with 2 tbsp water and stir into the sauce to thicken.
  • Simmer for 3-5 minutes until slightly thickened.

5. Combine Everything

  • Return the steak to the skillet.
  • Add cooked pasta and toss to coat.
  • Stir in heavy cream (if using) for a creamy texture.
  • If needed, add reserved pasta water to adjust sauce consistency.
  • Cook for 2 more minutes, ensuring everything is well-coated.

6. Serve and Enjoy

  • Garnish with fresh parsley or green onions.
  • Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese before serving.

Notes

  • Swap steak for chicken, shrimp, or tofu.
  • Make it spicier with extra red pepper flakes or hot sauce.
  • Use gluten-free pasta and tamari for a GF version.
  • For a low-carb alternative, serve over zucchini noodles or cauliflower rice.
