Instructions

Prepare the Dough

  • In a bowl, mix flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
  • Gradually add warm water while stirring to form a slightly sticky dough.
  • Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Cover and let rest in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

2. Shape and Second Rise

  • Punch down the risen dough to remove air bubbles.
  • Shape into a round or oval loaf.
  • Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.

3. Cook on the Stovetop

  • Heat a heavy-bottomed skillet over low heat and lightly grease it.
  • Place the dough in the pan, cover with a tight-fitting lid, and cook for 15–20 minutes.
  • Flip the bread and cook for another 10–15 minutes until golden brown.
  • Tap the bread—if it sounds hollow, it’s done.

4. Cool and Serve

  • Transfer to a wire rack and let cool for at least 10 minutes.
  • Slice and enjoy!
