This KFC-style coleslaw recipe replicates the restaurant’s famous creamy, tangy, and slightly sweet slaw. Perfect as a BBQ side, it’s easy to make and best served chilled.

- 1 medium head of green cabbage, finely chopped
- 2 medium carrots, grated
- ¼ cup onion, finely minced
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup whole milk
- ¼ cup buttermilk
- 2 tablespoons white vinegar
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Vegetables
- Remove the outer leaves of the cabbage and finely chop it using a food processor or knife to achieve a finely minced texture.
- Grate the carrots and finely mince the onion.
- Mix cabbage, carrots, and onion in a large bowl.
Step 2: Make the Dressing
- In a separate bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sugar, milk, buttermilk, white vinegar, lemon juice, salt, and pepper until smooth.
Step 3: Combine and Chill
- Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and stir until evenly coated.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (preferably overnight) to allow the flavors to meld.
Step 4: Serve
- Give the coleslaw a final stir before serving.
- Serve chilled as a side dish.
