Description

For the Marinade:

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (optional for extra heat)

For the Steak & Shrimp:

  • 1 lb skirt or flank steak, cut into strips
  • ½ lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For the Tacos:

 

  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • ½ cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • ½ cup diced red onion
  • ½ cup crumbled queso fresco or cotija cheese
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  • Marinate the Steak and Shrimp

    • In a bowl, whisk together the marinade ingredients.
    • Divide the mixture in half, using one portion to coat the steak and the other for the shrimp.
    • Let both marinate for at least 20 minutes (or up to 2 hours for deeper flavor).
  • Cook the Steak

    • Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Add the steak and cook for 3-4 minutes per side until browned and cooked to desired doneness.
    • Remove from heat and let rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  • Cook the Shrimp

    • In the same skillet, cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
    • Remove from heat immediately to prevent overcooking.
  • Assemble the Tacos

    • Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or over an open flame.
    • Fill each tortilla with a mix of steak and shrimp.
    • Top with cilantro, diced onion, queso fresco, and avocado slices.
    • Squeeze fresh lime juice over the tacos for extra zest.

    • Serve the tacos immediately with extra lime wedges and your favorite salsa or hot sauce.
