- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
For the Sauce:
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional, for extra depth)
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
For Serving:
- 2 cups cooked white or brown rice
- 1 green onion, sliced (for garnish)
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
- Steamed vegetables (such as broccoli or snap peas)
Instructions
Prepare the Pork
- Pat the pork slices dry and toss them in cornstarch, ensuring an even coating.
- Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and add vegetable oil.
- Sear the pork in batches to avoid overcrowding, cooking for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove from the pan and set aside.
2. Make the Sauce
- In the same pan, reduce heat to medium and add garlic and ginger. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in honey, soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), sesame oil, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 1-2 minutes until slightly thickened.
3. Combine Everything
- Return the cooked pork to the pan, tossing to coat evenly in the sauce. Let it simmer for another 1-2 minutes until fully heated through.
4. Assemble the Bowl
- Divide the cooked rice into bowls.
- Spoon the honey garlic pork over the rice.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
- Serve with steamed vegetables on the side for a complete meal.
