For the Beef & Marinade:
- 12 oz flank steak (or sirloin), thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp sesame oil
For the Sauce:
- 3 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
- 1 tsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp honey (or brown sugar)
- 1 tsp sriracha (optional)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- ¼ cup water
For the Noodles & Stir-Fry:
- 8 oz rice noodles (or lo mein noodles)
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 carrot, julienned
- ½ cup snap peas or broccoli florets
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1 tsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
- Fresh cilantro or Thai basil (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
1. Marinate the Beef
- Toss beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
2. Prepare the Sauce
- Whisk hoisin sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, vinegar, honey, sriracha, garlic, ginger, and water. Set aside.
3. Cook the Noodles
- Boil noodles per package instructions. Drain, rinse with cold water, and set aside.
4. Stir-Fry the Beef
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook beef for 2 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
5. Stir-Fry the Vegetables
- In the same pan, stir-fry bell pepper, carrot, and snap peas (or broccoli) for 3–4 minutes.
6. Combine Everything
- Return beef to pan, pour in sauce, and toss in noodles. Stir-fry for 2 minutes until combined.
7. Garnish & Serve
- Top with green onions, sesame seeds, and fresh herbs. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Protein Swap: Use chicken, shrimp, or tofu.
- Vegetables: Try mushrooms, baby corn, bok choy, or zucchini.
- Gluten-Free: Use tamari instead of soy sauce and check hoisin for GF certification.
- Extra Heat: Add more sriracha or red pepper flakes.
