Description

Garlic Shrimp Gratin is a rich, cheesy dish featuring succulent shrimp in a creamy sauce with a crispy golden topping. Easy to make in under 30 minutes, it’s perfect for a cozy dinner or an elegant appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Shrimp
    • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
    • Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
    • Add shrimp, season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly pink (they will finish cooking in the oven).
  2. Make the Creamy Sauce
    • Pour in heavy cream and stir in Parmesan cheese. Simmer for 2 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens.
    • Transfer the shrimp and sauce to a baking dish.
  3. Prepare the Topping
    • In a small bowl, mix panko breadcrumbs with olive oil.
    • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella over the shrimp, then evenly distribute the breadcrumb mixture on top.
  4. Bake and Serve
    • Bake for 10-12 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
    • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot with crusty bread or over pasta.

Notes

  • Cheese Options: Swap mozzarella for Gruyère or cheddar for a different flavor.
  • Spicy Kick: Add extra red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce.
  • Lighter Version: Substitute half-and-half for heavy cream.
  • Herb Infusion: Add fresh thyme or basil for an aromatic touch.
