Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven – Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the Ground Beef – In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion until browned and tender (5–7 minutes). Drain excess grease.
  3. Combine Ingredients – In a mixing bowl, combine beef mixture, French onion soup, cream of mushroom soup, beef broth, rice, garlic powder, black pepper, and thyme. Pour into prepared baking dish.
  4. Bake the Casserole – Cover with foil and bake for 40–45 minutes until rice is fully cooked.
  5. Add Cheese and Crispy Onions – Remove foil, stir in sour cream and cheddar cheese. Sprinkle crispy fried onions on top.
