  • Yield: 1 sandwich 1x

Description

A crispy, golden grilled cheese sandwich with the tangy crunch of dill pickles. This easy and delicious twist on a classic combines buttery toasted bread, gooey cheese, and zesty pickles for the perfect balance of flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 slices of bread (sourdough, rye, or white)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or 2 slices)
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or 2 slices)
  • 46 dill pickle slices, patted dry
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients
    • Lay out the bread slices on a clean surface.
    • Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice.
    • If using mustard, spread a thin layer on the unbuttered side of one slice.
    • Pat the pickle slices dry with a paper towel.
  2. Assemble the Sandwich
    • Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in a skillet over medium-low heat.
    • Sprinkle or layer the cheeses evenly on top.
    • Arrange the pickles over the cheese.
    • Sprinkle garlic powder if using.
    • Top with the second slice of bread, butter-side up.
  3. Cook to Perfection
    • Cook for 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.
    • Flip carefully and press lightly with a spatula.
    • Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is crispy and the cheese is fully melted.
  4. Serve and Enjoy
    • Remove from heat and let it rest for a minute before slicing.
    • Serve hot with tomato soup, ketchup, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Spicy Kick: Add sliced jalapeños or a drizzle of hot sauce.
  • Extra Crunch: Use fried pickles instead of raw slices.
  • Different Cheeses: Swap cheddar for gouda, Swiss, or pepper jack.
  • Bacon Boost: Add crispy bacon for extra flavor.
  • Garlic Bread Style: Brush the outside with garlic butter.
