- 2 slices of bread (sourdough, rye, or white)
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or 2 slices)
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or 2 slices)
- 4–6 dill pickle slices, patted dry
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Ingredients
- Lay out the bread slices on a clean surface.
- Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice.
- If using mustard, spread a thin layer on the unbuttered side of one slice.
- Pat the pickle slices dry with a paper towel.
- Assemble the Sandwich
- Place one slice of bread, butter-side down, in a skillet over medium-low heat.
- Sprinkle or layer the cheeses evenly on top.
- Arrange the pickles over the cheese.
- Sprinkle garlic powder if using.
- Top with the second slice of bread, butter-side up.
- Cook to Perfection
- Cook for 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.
- Flip carefully and press lightly with a spatula.
- Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is crispy and the cheese is fully melted.
- Serve and Enjoy
- Remove from heat and let it rest for a minute before slicing.
- Serve hot with tomato soup, ketchup, or your favorite dipping sauce.
