Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough or pizza dough
- 6 large eggs
- ½ cup milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your preferred cheese)
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- ½ teaspoon onion powder (optional)
- 1 pound breakfast sausage (pork, turkey, or plant-based)
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted (for brushing)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Filling
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked. Break it into crumbles as it cooks. Drain excess grease and set aside.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Pour the egg mixture into the same skillet and cook over low heat, stirring gently, until soft scrambled eggs form. Remove from heat.
- Stir in the cooked sausage and shredded cheese, combining everything evenly.
Step 2: Assemble the Rolls
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the crescent roll or pizza dough on a lightly floured surface. If using crescent rolls, pinch the seams together to form a single sheet.
- Cut the dough into rectangles or triangles, depending on the desired roll shape.
- Spoon a generous amount of the sausage, egg, and cheese mixture onto each dough section.
- Carefully roll or fold the dough over the filling, sealing the edges. Place them seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Step 3: Bake to Perfection
- Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter for a golden, flaky crust.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Different Cheese – Swap cheddar for mozzarella, Swiss, pepper jack, or gouda.
- Add Vegetables – Toss in sautéed bell peppers, spinach, or mushrooms for extra nutrition.
- Use Bacon or Ham – Instead of sausage, try crispy bacon or diced ham.
- Gluten-Free Option – Use a gluten-free dough substitute.
- Spicy Kick – Add diced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce.
