Christmas Pretzel Hugs: A Festive Sweet-and-Salty Treat

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: About 50 pretzel hugs 1x

Description

Christmas Pretzel Hugs are a festive, sweet-and-salty holiday treat made with just three ingredients: square pretzels, Hershey’s Hugs chocolates, and holiday-colored M&M’s. Perfect for gifting, parties, or a fun holiday snack, these easy-to-make bites are an irresistible seasonal favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 50 square pretzels (e.g., Snyder’s Butter Snap or waffle-style pretzels)
  • 50 Hershey’s Hugs chocolates, unwrapped
  • 50 red and green M&M’s (holiday edition)

Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prepare: Preheat oven to 200°F (93°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Assemble the Base: Arrange pretzels in a single layer on the baking sheet. Place one Hershey’s Hug on each pretzel.
  3. Bake Until Softened: Bake for 4–5 minutes, until chocolates appear glossy and slightly softened (not melted).
  4. Add M&M’s: Remove from oven. Press an M&M into the center of each Hug, slightly flattening it.
  5. Cool & Set: Let cool at room temperature for 30 minutes, or refrigerate for 15 minutes until firm.
  6. Serve & Enjoy: Transfer to a serving platter or store in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Different Chocolates: Swap Hugs for Hershey’s Kisses, Rolos, or dark chocolate Kisses.
  • Nutty Addition: Replace M&M’s with pecan halves for a “turtle” version.
  • Year-Round Treat: Use seasonal M&M’s for different holidays.
  • Gluten-Free: Use gluten-free pretzels.
  • Extra Drizzle: Add white or dark chocolate drizzle for decoration.
