  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: Makes about 12-15 bites 1x

Description

Enjoy the sweet and tart flavors of Caramel Apple Bites, a bite-sized twist on the classic caramel apple. Perfect for parties, holidays, or a quick treat, these easy-to-make snacks are customizable with various toppings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 package (11 oz) soft caramels (such as Kraft)
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional, to prevent browning)
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts, mini chocolate chips, or sprinkles (for topping)
  • 12 toothpicks or small skewers

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apples
    • Wash and dry the apples thoroughly.
    • Cut each apple into bite-sized chunks, about 1-inch in size.
    • If desired, toss apple pieces with lemon juice to prevent browning.
    • Insert a toothpick or small skewer into each apple piece.
  2. Melt the Caramel
    • Unwrap the caramels and place them in a microwave-safe bowl.
    • Add the heavy cream and microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth.
    • Let the caramel cool slightly to thicken for better coating.
  3. Dip the Apple Bites
    • Dip each apple bite into the melted caramel, coating evenly.
    • Let any excess caramel drip off before placing them on parchment paper.
  4. Add Toppings
    • While the caramel is still sticky, sprinkle or dip the bites into your chosen toppings.
    • Place them back on the parchment paper to set.
  5. Let Them Set
    • Allow the caramel to firm up for about 10-15 minutes before serving.
    • For faster setting, refrigerate for 5-10 minutes.

Notes

  • Chocolate Drizzle: Drizzle melted chocolate over the caramel for an extra indulgence.
  • Sea Salt Caramel: Sprinkle a bit of flaky sea salt on top for a sweet-salty contrast.
  • Cinnamon Sugar: Roll in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar for a spiced touch.
  • Nut-Free Option: Use crushed graham crackers or crushed pretzels instead of nuts.
