Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Set to 375°F (190°C) and grease a large baking dish with olive oil.
- Cook the Ground Beef: Brown the beef in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it up. Drain excess grease.
- Sauté Aromatics: Add onion and garlic to the skillet; cook until softened (about 3 minutes).
- Prepare Vegetables: Toss potatoes, carrots, butternut squash, and mushrooms with olive oil, salt, pepper, thyme, and paprika in a large bowl.
- Assemble the Bake: Layer the beef mixture in the greased baking dish, then top with seasoned vegetables.
- Add Sauce: Mix beef broth, heavy cream, and Worcestershire sauce in a bowl; pour over the dish.
- Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 35-40 minutes. Remove foil, sprinkle cheese and breadcrumbs (if using), and bake uncovered for another 10-15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Serve: Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
